… the holy grail of resilience

It seems we have all been wasting our time!

Following on from yesterday’s post about confusing the software and the tool (and if you want to follow some additional conversation on this issue it was picked up at Agile Continuity)

I have discovered a company, called Enterra Solutions, that can sell you “Enterprise Resilience”.

Their approach fuses Enterprise Risk Management, Strategic Planning and Enterprise Architecture to create the Enterprise Resilience Management Solution™.

Reading through their web site it seems they encourage some fairly common approaches in their methodology;

  • identify your critical assets
  • identify the business processes that support those assets
  • identify the rules that rules that apply to these processes
  • identify the “threat actors” that can disrupt the process and put the assets at risk
    • these actors may be human (e.g. terrorists) or natural events such as a hurricanes.

The key feature of the approach seems to be that you need to convert your rules into some form of coded, intelligent content. As a result your can have a rules-based ‘resilience response”.

Not sure I am buying it, but the guys behind it also run a blog – read their blog and make up your own mind.
