… a trip to Toronto

The World Conference on Disaster Management is celebrating its 20th birthday this year.  June 6-9 in Toronto, Canada.

I have been accepted as a presenter for the conference, which is a great honour.  My session was inspired by the themes of the event – 20 years of progress and Emergency Management and BC working together.

It occurred to me I had been in this game for at least that long, and after having to take a nap at the realisation of how old I must be, I started working on an outline for a paper.

The title is “The Journey from Mainframe DR to Resilient Operations“, which I guess is fairly self-explanatory, auto-biographical and hopefully will provide a framework to address the past 20 years of this discipline. The real challenge will be presenting a simple model to explain resilience!

The agenda features a number of other people who I am keen to meet and share ideas with, I suspect it will be a busy time.

Are you planning to attend this conference?

If so we should meet , chat and compare ideas in the real world. Post a comment, we have plenty of time to plan this.
