… another forgotten anniversary

3rd Birthday CupcakesForgetting anniversaries, and other significant milestones, has become an occupational hazard with me recently. I am sure it has something to do with the consistent 50+ hour working weeks that have become the norm on my current primary engagement.

One of those overlooked milestones was the 3rd birthday of the blog!

It is interesting to observe that while my posting output has reduced significantly in the past year, only 53 new posts compared to the first 200 which came up in 23 months, the number of visitors and page views is fairly constant.

It is also interesting to note that of the top 5 most read posts this year, only one was actually written this year. I don’t know if it is due to very few people writing about Australian Standard 5050, or a general sustained interest in the document – but either way the series on 5050 remains in the most read category for another year.

For this so you interested in these things, the most read posts over the past 12 months were;

  • Explore vs Exploit – resilience as learning (from June 2011, and I am very glad you read that as it encourages me that people in this field are ready to expand their horizons and skill sets)
  • BCI Lecture, Dr Robert Kay (April 2012) reflecting on a very valuable piece of research, and some interesting discussion with the author over a number of beers after the event. I suspect the chat and the beer was more enjoyable than the writing, but glad you read it all the same.
  • From Piper Alpha to Deepwater Horizon, do we really learn (Feb 2011, and another part of the Culture and Resilience series) this was also another piece that I am glad people read in numbers, it was also the second most read post last year too.
  • parts 2 & 3 of the AS 5050 series (October 2010) round out the top 5, last year all 3 parts of the series made the most read list.
  • Australia still tops the location table for readers, but represents a reduced percentage. US, UK and Canada follow. Interesting that the 5th spot on the table last year was India, closely followed by New Zealand. I guess the Kiwis have done well on a per capita basis.

    Thank you for continuing to read, I would like to be able to thank the many people who made comments and engaged in discussion – but unfortunately that did not happen.

    Still, there is next year to look forward to.
