I am pleased to announce that I will be presenting a paper at DRJ’s Spring World, March 2012 in Orlando, Florida.
I have never been to this conference, so thought I would give it a try – and it was unfair to have been critical of something about which I have no direct knowledge.
Other than a guilty conscience, there were three other key factors that influenced me to submit a paper.
The first was the addition of a “Senior Practitioner only” stream for the conference. This is a whole day on the Monday and you cannot register for this via the web site. You need to email the organizers to have your eligibility checked. Perhaps I am an elitist at heart, but I liked this idea.
The second reason, or perhaps it was the first, is the venue. Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort (pictured above) looks great. Around that time of the year things start to get cool here in Australia, so a good time for some Florida sun.
The last reason, but equally important – Florida is John Glenn country, hopefully i can find an opportunity to meet up with the man himself.
Here is the title and outline of the session – regular readers may detect a favorite theme.
Putting ‘Management’ into BCM
One of the most common laments in the industry is that senior executives are not supportive of BCM efforts. This session will provide techniques you can adopt to change this situation.
Executives understand the need for continuity. They just might not demonstrate it in the way we want!
Explore proven methods for engaging and maintaining executive support for a BCM program, methods to help balance the often competing demands of governance and compliance, enterprise risk management, BC/DR capability and the emerging concepts around organizational resilience.
As always, I will load the slides here when the time comes, and hopefully a podcast of the session. In the mean time, would appreciate input from readers on the subject.
Is this a session you would find interesting?
Any stories about management engagement with risk/BC you would like to share?
